    Entwicklung und Perfektionierung von Fahrzeugen für
    die Teilnahme an Schülerwettbewerben wie Mausefallenrennen, Wettbewerb der Modell-Solarmobile usw.
    Wilhelmine-Fliedner-Gesamtschule 53 Jugendliche der Fliedner treten in diesem Jahr zu den Abiturprüfungen an.
    Die meisten Arbeiten, 2001 gekrönt durch den Gewinn des Bundeswettbewerbes im Fach Chemie, gingen aus der
    legendären Chemie AG von Dr. Walther Enßlin hervor.

    “Töchter” dieser AG waren die AG “Detegimus Naturam” unter Leitung von Bernhard Osterwind und die AG “Technik-Physik” unter Leitung von Dr.

    Johann Pleschinger. An dem Wettbewerb ‘Jugend forscht’, das selbstständige, forschend
    entwickelnde Arbeiten von Schülerinnen und Schülern an der Schule fachlich begleitet und gefördert wird.
    “Urzellen” dieser Arbeit sind Groups aus Schülern und betreuendem Lehrer (z.T.
    auch ehemalige Lehrer wie Dr. Enßlin).
    Neben zahlreichen Preisträgern in Regional- und Landeswettbewerben stellte sie 2001 die Bundessieger im Fach Chemie[8][9].
    2006 gewann der Wettbewerbsbeitrag im Fach Biologie den Umweltpreis auf Bundesebene[10].
    Der Begriff ist ein Kofferwort aus „Alternative Lernmöglichkeiten in Hilden”, angelehnt an die
    Figur des Almöhi aus Spyris Heidi-Erzählungen. (Berufs)erfahrene Senioren vermitteln ehrenamtlich ihre Kenntnisse und Fertigkeiten in außerunterrichtlichen Arbeitsgemeinschaften im Rahmen des Ganztagsbetriebs an Schülerinnen und Schüler
    der Unterstufe. 1923 erfolgte die Umwandlung der Helmholtz-Realschule in eine Oberrealschule, so dass die Schüler ab
    1926 die Allgemeine Hochschulreife ablegen konnten. Die Schach-Mannschaft des Helmholtz-Gymnasiums hat bei der Kreismeisterschaft in Ratingen überlegen den ersten Platz belegt.

    Die Partien gegen die Konkurrenzschulen wurden klar gewonnen.
    So können diese ihren besonderen Interessen nachgehen, wie zum
    Beispiel in den Bereichen Chemie, Physik, Patenschaft für 5.-Klässler, Sanitätsdienst.
    Dieses Projekt stellt eine reizvolle Verknüpfung der Musikbereiche beider Schulen, unter der Federführung
    der Musikschule, dar. Als großes Sinfonieorchester führt es Originalkompositionen aus allen Epochen auf.

    In der Aula steht der spielerische Kampf Lehrer gegen Schüler an. „Die Lehrer werden es nicht
    schaffen”, struggle sich Oberstufenschülerin Luzia Kautzner
    vorher sicher. „Das haben sie noch nie.” Natürlich sollte sie recht behalten. Den Höhepunkt ihrer Mottowoche feiern am Freitag nicht nur die Bonni-Abiturienten, sondern auch die der Wilhelmine-Fliedner-Gesamtschule gleich nebenan und die Q2-Schülerinnen und -Schüler des Helmholtz-Gymnasiums am Holterhöfchen. HGH-Direktorin Barbara Krieger lässt sich überraschen, was auf sie zukommt, sie weiß im Vorfeld von nichts. In der Turnhalle spielen dann Lehrer gegen Schüler, nach anderthalb unterhaltsamen Stunden Programm beginnen dann für alle die Osterferien.
    Helmholz-Gymnasium in Hilden ist eine Ganztagsschule. Die SchülerInnen können die Fremdsprachen Englisch, Französisch, Spanisch und Italienisch erlernen. Die Schule pflegt zudem Kontakte zu Partnerschulen im Ausland und bietet regelmäßig Schüleraustausche, unter anderem nach China und Israel, an. Darüber hinaus besteht für die SchülerInnen der 5. Klasse das Angebot an einer Singklasse teilzunehmen. Vorstellungen der einzelnen AGs sind unter dem entsprechenden Hyperlink zu finden.     Sehnsüchtig erwartet wird der Spatenstich zur neuen Dreifachturnhalle, mit
    deren Bau im Dezember begonnen werden soll. Neben dem Sport hält die Schule auch ein breites musisches Angebot vor
    — zählte doch beispielsweise Franz Lamprecht für sechs Jahre zum Kollegium.
